Ahhh... Summertime. School’s out, the weather is generally good (flying-wise, at least in the morning or evening) pastures are green and everything melts in to the laziness of a nice warm summer day. 

Not here... there’s lots to do!

Summer is the time for our youth “Work and Fly” program for aviation-minded kids 12–17 years old. This is no daycare or wimpy summer camp where everyone makes s’mores and goes fishing with Opie. It’s an opportunity for kids interested in aviation to mow, sweep, paint, clean, whatever in exchange for flying lessons. I’ve made it sound like boot camp, but it’s not that. We try to make it enjoyable and fun for everyone, but there really is a lot of work to do just keeping this place humming. It’s a tremendous opportunity for kids to be with other kids interested in aviation. 

The program works like this... for every 8 hours a youngster works, they receive an hour dual instruction in the Museum’s Piper J-3 Cub. Easy Peasy lemon squeezy. We’ll post work days (I’ll add them tonight) and
